Higher School Certificate (HSC) is arguably the most important exam in our studying journey. The path to HSC is a highly stressful one as the difficulty of study ramps up significantly from the junior years of high school. Many turns their attention to tutoring to relieve some of the burdens and stress that they encounter.

At Finesse Tutoring, we understand all of this. We start the HSC preparation in Year 10, to ensure strong Mathematics fundamentals are embedded before we launch into the HSC syllabus in Year 11 & 12. We uniquely blend the characteristics of classroom tutoring and 1-1 tutoring into one, so our students get a fully structured and carefully paced study program, while enjoying the benefits of personalised training.

HSC Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry Training

At Finesse Tutoring, we start our training from Year 10. Our goal is to help student secure a spot in their desired level of Year 11 Mathematics (e.g. Math Ext 1), and equip them with strong Mathematics fundamentals that will allow them to cruise through the harder training of Year 11 and Year 12.

The Year 11 and Year 12 Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry programs work through the HSC syllabus at a carefully designed pace that allows our students to absorb all required knowledge at great depth, while reserving plenty of time for revision and HSC exam preparation.

Teaching Style

We conduct our lessons in small classes of no more than 9 students. This small class size allows our tutors and students to interact effectively, enabling students to remain focused for the duration of the class.

At Finesse Tutoring, we use the class time primarily to teach and interact. We do not bombard students with endless in-class exams or give them an excessive amount of take-home exercises, allowing them to have a good study-life balance. Our tutors provide friendly and enthusiastic coaching to stretch students' thinking and inspire them to be passionate about learning.

Exam Techniques

We embed exam techniques throughout our courses, including:

Planning how to spend time in an exam
Addressing multiple-choice questions quickly and effectively
Knowing how to score marks in a complex question
Avoiding common "silly" mistakes

In addition, we proactively look for casual habits that could lead to mark deduction in an exam, and guide students into better habits.
